Terms
of use
KeteNZ is an online platform for kids,
awarding digital badges for doing cool stuff!
Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Kete.nz, a place where you can store and show off the digital badges you earn at home and school. The services we provide to you here use the DigitalBadgeED platform, and are subject to the following Terms of Use, which may change from time to time. The current Terms of Use will always be available to you via the “Terms” hyperlink at the bottom of the page.
By creating a Kete account and logging on, you are accepting these terms. We are agreeing that if a dispute arises, we’ll work it out (arbitrate) and you are giving up your right to go to court. If you have any unresolved concerns about the service, do not use it.
What is included in the service?
Once you have created a Kete account, you can do a number of things:
- See which digital badges you are working towards (enrolled in)
- Where available, “claim” a badge to have it automatically awarded to you
- See which digital badges you have been awarded
- Choose whether to share your awarded badges with your friends and family
- Print your own certificate for badges you have been awarded
Changes to the service
We may change the services at any time. This might mean adding new features or making adjustments to the way some features are used.
We will have no liability in relation to changing the services.
Discontinuing the service
If part of the Service or the Service in its entirety is discontinued, DigitalBadgeED will make every effort to provide notice and ensure that users can store their awarded badges and / or move them to another provider.
We use the Open Badges standard, which means that the badges you have earned can be read by other systems who use the same standard.
We will have no liability in relation to discontinuing the services.
Your Account
To access the Service, you will need a Kete account. When you create your account and sign-in, we may use a third-party provider to verify your identity.
We allow you to link multiple identities so that when you move schools, we can link your account to your new school email address.
You may never allow anyone else to use your account (except your parents or legal guardian). Do not provide your password or personal information to anyone.
Intellectual Property
The visual interfaces, graphics, design, compilation, information, data, computer code, products, software, services, and all other elements of the Service are protected by law. All IP contained in the Service (Kete.nz and the DigitalBadgeED platform) is our property.
Digital badges are associated with an issuing organisation (“Issuer”). At their discretion, badges may change or be retired at any time, but we will work with all issuers to manage existing enrolments. We accept no responsibility for the availability or quality of their activities or programmes.
Digital badges that have been awarded belong to you. They are based on the Open Badges standard and can be read by other digital badge platforms.
No Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and on an “as available” basis.
This means that if Kete.nz or DigitalBadgeED are unavailable we make no promises about how quickly we’ll be able to resolve issues with the Service. We will use best efforts to get things up and running again as soon as possible.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
